We were contacted by this customer while we were cleaning a driveway over the road from his home. He saw the difference it made in real time and, after watching the results, asked us to take a look at his own driveway and book it in for a clean.
The issue
This driveway had developed an uneven appearance over time. There were a couple of clear patches where cars were usually parked, meaning those areas had been protected from the worst of the weather. The rest of the driveway was much more exposed, leaving the overall finish looking patchy and inconsistent.
On top of this, there were lots of visible white lichen spots across the surface, which were firmly attached and needed more than a standard clean to shift properly.
Site visit and plan
We assessed the surface condition and discussed the best way to achieve an even, consistent result across the whole drive. We agreed a clear plan that included:

A full driveway clean to lift grime and restore colour

Targeted treatment for the lichen spotting

A controlled approach to blend the sheltered and weathered areas for a more uniform finish
How we treated the driveway
1) Full driveway clean
We cleaned the full surface using professional equipment to lift:

Ground-in dirt and traffic film
-
General grime and weathering
-
Built-up residue affecting the overall colour
This helped bring the driveway back to a cleaner, brighter baseline before tackling the more stubborn marks.
2) Lichen spot treatment
To deal with the white lichen spotting, we used a targeted chemical treatment. For this job we used sodium hypochlorite to help break down and remove the lichen marks and improve the overall finish.
The result
The results were absolutely amazing, the driveway looked noticeably cleaner, more even in colour, and the lichen spotting was dramatically improved. The difference between the previously sheltered patches and the weathered areas was reduced, leaving a far more consistent, refreshed appearance, exactly what the customer wanted.
